What i think should be done to compete successfully :
1. Must have a good idea to work on
2. Idea should be footloose
3. Make a bang start so that if someone tries to copy u , need so much time that till then u have the major market share
4. Should be for the mass audience and if benefited for the society its a add on ..

the fact that it should be launched on a large scale is of utmost importance, or else companies having more resources than you are will just steal your idea and produce a much bigger replica and there is nothing one can do about it.....

let me tell u one incidence ... how important is competition and what step can a company take to overcome its competitor :
Do you know first there used to be CAMPA COLA but comes COCA COLA and everything changed .... What did COKE did .. COKE bought all the empty bottle of CAMPA COLA from the market .. till CAMPA COLA could produce more empty bottle COKE flooded the market by it products ...
